Gratitude.

As I drove around on this gorgeous sunny day with a beautiful Autumn backdrop and my little family beside me, I could only reflect on how thankful I am for so many things.

I am thankful for my family, and Ryan’s family, and my closest friends who live so far away.

I am thankful for Maggie and how on the days I miss them the most, she is there to keep me laughing.

I am so thankful for the home that we built together over the past few months. Although it isn’t where we want to live, it is our home because we’re here together. Living here is temporary, and we’ll get to move home some day. Everything happens for a reason. Even unexpected moves half-way across the country.

I am thankful that although we live so far away, we still have an amazing bunch of people back home who we can’t wait to see over the holidays. I am so thankful for them.

I am thankful for Val.

I have so much gratitude for my health. The air in my lungs. The ground beneath my feet.

As we drive along, all of the things I am so thankful for fall in to my mind with the leaves flashing by my window. I realize that although I am thankful for these things every day, it’s nice to have a single extra day to remind us all to reflect. To remind us all that life’s not so bad.

As a matter of fact, it’s pretty awesome.

So I guess I’m thankful for this drive, and it’s beautiful little reminders of how amazing life can be.
